“Banksable” The New York Times Article

“Banksable” was written by Lynn Hirschberg in The New York Times. It was the cover story for the June 1st magazine. It starts off saying how Tyra Banks has 275 smiles and that she uses them like an athlete would use their plays. It goes on to tell how Tyra Banks became one of the most world famous models. The article talks about her many struggles along the way, most doing with her body image and what people saw wrong with her.

The main point of the article is how Tyra is making a business out of what she does. She has America’s Next Top Model, where she transforms ordinary wanna-be models into editorial high fashion models. She has the Tyra Banks Show, where she does so many different things its hard to keep up. She is also producing another show that she isn’t going to be in. She is becoming a businesswoman and is getting compared to such people as Oprah and Stewart.

I love Tyra Banks and I watch both of her shows. She is a very influencial person to many young veiwers. She says that she is hitting home with young girls of all races, but I think she hits home with many more people than that. Grown men probably watch her show and feel the same way a woman would feel. She is teaching people in a way that most people don’t try. I remember one episode where she donned a fat suit and brought along some cameras and showed that people that are obese are treated differently. She was saying that not only beautiful people should be treated nicer but everyone should be treated with respect. I have to say that she is going good and I’m glad.
