Recently many fashion kings and queens are moving towards celebrities advertising their clothing or whatever it might be. I could see why they would think this is smarter. People recognize celebrities but only a few know models by their names they see in ads. If they use celebrities, people are more likely too be interested and look into what is being advertised. I’m all for the celebrity fashionistas.

This is Jennifer Connelly for Balenciaga that has graced the pages of high end magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair.

The designer began in Toyko designing costumes in the late 60’s. It was a small side business but has now tranformed itself into a 150 million dollar fashion empire.
I’ve just stumpled across them and found it to be intriguing. They began with more avant-garde looks, like 3 armed jackets and face mask turtlenecks. They have recently been moving more mainstream with suits hewn from gold and silver tweed. They even started doing floral-motif dresses.
There designers are on the stranger side but yet still fashion forward. The clothes lean sometimes to more art looking than clothes. They also tend to have a victorian edge to them. They look like a modern victorian queen. The menswear they put out is also on the edgier side. It isn’t nicely trimmed suits with clear cut corners.

I like how they are switching it up from their usual shirtless men running rampid and girls in barely there clothes. Not saying that I don’t like those ads, but I like seeing a change. They are going towards a more luxurious hippy style. The girls are all wearing flowy dresses in light cotton looking fabrics with loose hair. It looks like a beach side fire, which is never dull.
The new ad was shot by Mario Testino and I think it was a success as usual. They never fail. What else would you expect from the two?
I know I would nab those pants in the front left corner in a heart beat.

The Heathette line was what was expected from the duo. There was a lot of mixed patterns (plaid, leopard, floral, picnic table scenes), mega color, not so cute overalls, ruffles, big shoes, netting, gold lamé, plunging necklines, baby doll dresses, greased up bodies, tons of beading, orange, one-shoulder, the usual use of fairy dust, satin beach ball appliqué, and lots and lots of tulle. The usual club kid chic that they give off.
Celebrities that sat in the front row at the show were Kim Kardashian (who texted and yawned through most of it) and the Gastineau girls, model/”it girl” Corey Kennedy, Robin Antin, Aubrey O’Day, Ross Matthews, Jennifer Gimenez, Jenna Jameson, Kat DeLuna, Daniela Sea, and Lydia Hearst.
